African Woman

"A joyful heart is the normal result of a heart burning with love."
—Mother Teresa
As Mother Teresa stated, love is a buring desire within an individual. It's not selfish or greedy. But patient, kind, respectful, and thus, it produces joy in you, and to others whom you extend your love. Choose to be a joyful person.
This is what I wore to a wedding a couple of week's back. Kenia did it again. This is seperates - a shirt and a [wrap] skirt. I love how she left the legs of the African Women right by the neck line so my head sits right on top of the legs. [haha] It's safe to say this is my new favorite outfit.
Have a lovely day. xo

Mercy. Favor. Glory.

When you die, die on E. Leave no dream left behind.

I had the crazy, awesome opportunity to represent my company - DeBisi - at a celebrity pre-event for the BET Awards a couple of weeks ago. When I say it was only God, I mean it was: ONLY GOD! The opportunity literally came out of nowhere; I did not solicit it; it just came to me. And I so thank God. I flew out to Los Angeles and had a great time meeting and speaking with people with my friend from college, Tenley. She was such a great help, navigating me through the sunny streets of LA.

This is what I wore. I figured I may as well be bright (and wear my favorite color) when I am among the stars. :)

Kenia Made Me Do It

"The impossible is often the untried".  - Jim Goodwin

I went to my good ol' pal Kenia to sew my dress for my friend's wedding (in which I was a bridesmaid), and she laughed at me for the style I brought. Why? She said it wasn't my style. So she made me think of something new (haha), and here is the result...

Can you see me sinking in the mulch? :) Have a blessed week(end). xo

Just Look Over Your Shoulders, Honey!

Care about what other people think and you will always be their prisoner. – Lao Tzu
This lady! I've known Khadija since high school, and each time I see her, she ALWAYS looks great. This dress is everything.

Kente Girl

Remind yourself daily of God's love.

Hi everyone. This year has proven to be a productive one thus far (hence my scarce postings; though I hope to be back up on it in the coming months). I am so grateful of God's mercies and blessings.

Here's is Banke at Lynda's wedding. I so love the incorporation of the Kente into her dress.

Have a blessed week. xo

The Bride and Her Maidens

Show me your friends, and I will tell you the kind of person you are.
I had the privilege of being a bridesmaid for my friend this past weekend. As I told her, I could not have done this for just anyone; but I wholeheartedly believe their union was a match made in Heaven. It was such a joy and blessing to be a witness to God's awesomeness in her [and her husband's!] life. All around the wedding was spectacular. Great ceremony, great music, great food, great people, great time. It was truly a wonderful way to kick off this year's wedding season. (=
A couple of pictures below, including all her maidens in our aso ebi during the traditional engagement.

I just had to add this picture. So awesome.

15-Minute Break

"The people around you will take note if you work hard and work smart. They will also take note if you don’t." -Lowell Taub

These photos are from a fashion show at the University of Pennsylvania, as I waited to showcase. My lovely friend, Mo, rode up to Philadelphia with me at [literally] the very last minute. I am so grateful for great spirited people such as her in my life. I took some pictures of her [on her phone], that are quite the entertainment. But she wouldn't allow me to post any of them as she called it blackmail. It really aren't though if ask me.
Have a lovely week, all.

Mo and I!!

Spotlight: Kelly Rowland in Nigeria

"A lot of people give up too easily. You are closest to your victory when you face the greatest opposition." - Joel Osteen

Kelly Rowland was in Victoria Island, Nigeria last week to perform and co-host Darey's Love Like a Movie II Concert. She was wearing an Ankara cropped top and pants (designer unknown) for an interview, and some funky pattern material that resembles ankara in her performance. Her abs are insane!

DeBisi in the Streets

"Proof of your desire is in your pursuit. God promises those who seek Him with all their hearts will find Him, and not be disappointed." - Rotoya Goodwin

Happy February, all! 2014 is definitely showing itself to be a lot like 2013, already rolling along its way rather quickly.

Some of my fellow bloggers are below rocking their DeBisi pieces. I love all the various stylings and cannot say thank you enough to them for their support. Check out their blogs, as I am sure you will not be disappointed. Have a blessed week.

Sneak Peak: It's A Photoshoot

"Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn." - Benjamin Franklin

We had a photoshoot for DeBisi, LLC for the new products. I had a great, great team [of models and photog] to work with, and I am so grateful for them all. As soon as we're ready to go, the new products will be posted on for your consumption. Yay. Here are a few pictures I snuck from the shoot.

Never Too Late

"Go home. Lock yourself in your room. Kneel down in the middle of the floor, and with a piece of chalk draw a circle around yourself. There, on your knees, pray fervently and brokenly that God would start a revival within that chalk circle." - Rodney "Gypsy" Smith

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Yes, I said it.

I ask you all to forgive me (for my 23-day tardiness). It has been a heck of new year (that is a good thing), just very busy, hence the delay on this post. Many different and wonderful things going on in my life, and I praise God for it all. I hope and pray you all have also started the year off on a great note.

I wore this to a wedding last year. Kenia, my good ol' reliable seamstress, knocked it out for me in like a week. Removable peplum belt (in which the material is a different pattern than the skirt) over a pencil skirt with a slit. Trust me, I needed that to move around. haha
Have a great day. xo

The skirt was not as fun without the belt, so I had to make it up in my expression. I hope I didn't scare you. (=
